Inspiring the next generation virtually

A montage of six headshot style photos

Inspiring Minds is an opportunity for post-16 students to learn more about the options available at university, through a series of academic taster days. With events moving online, six alumni have contributed their experiences via video presentations to inspire those considering higher education.

The School and College Liaison team at the University launched the event over the UK February half term. The event website includes information, advice and guidance on a range of subject areas. Hundreds of 16-17-year olds from across the country who are considering their higher education options can access the resources.

Keith Seymour (MEng Civil Engineering 2005), Murray Chapman (BSc Civil Engineering 1971) and Andy Kowalski (former university lecturer) shared their experiences within STEM, whilst Robert Clarkson-Short (BSc Banking, Finance and Management 2010) talked about investment and finance for those interested in business and economics.

Alumna Clare Amos (BSc Psychology 1991) discussed her experiences in psychology, including her work as a freelance psychologist, and her studies at Loughborough.

Neil Wattam, Co-Founder of Wattam Kirby Mee and Industrial Design and Technology graduate (2003) shared a presentation for those interested in design subjects, and talks about his career since, in finance.

All six alumni who contributed to the Inspiring Minds events filmed videos or presentations discussing their Loughborough experiences and careers so far.

Thank you to all alumni who contributed.
