Apply now for the StudyUK Alumni Awards

Every year international alumni can nominate themselves for the British Council StudyUK Alumni Awards. 

Nominations are currently open for the 2021/22 awards, for alumni who have graduated from a UK university within the last 15 years. 

The awards recognise and honour alumni from around the world who have used their UK education to make a difference in their professions, communities, and countries. 

This year there are four categories: 

  • Science and Sustainability Award 

  • Culture and Creativity Award 

  • Social Action Award 

  • Business and Innovation Award 

Several Loughborough alumni have been acknowledged for their outstanding achievements and these awards celebrate and showcase the impact and value of a UK higher education. 

Alumni who have been recognised in recent years are: 

Last year three alumni were recognised in the awardsJanki Rajapurkar Deole was a global finalist in the Entrepreneurial Award category, Dr Muhammad Salman Khan, who lives and works in Pakistan, was recognised as Pakistan regional finalist in the Professional Achievement Award category, and Holly Penalver, who lives in Greece, was the European regional finalist in the Social Impact Award category.  

In 2019, alumnus Dr Bader Shafaqu Al-Anzi was shortlisted in the Professional Achievement category which recognised alumni who have distinguished themselves through exemplary leadership in their professional field. 

Alumna Dr Mavis Asare was presented with the Professional Achievement Award in 2018 at a ceremony held by the British Council in GhanaShe was recognised for her exemplary leadership in her professional field. 

Two alumni saw success in 2017 as Dr Paul Oluikpe was shortlisted for Professional Achievement in Nigeria and Dr Terence Yeo won the Entrepreneurial Award in the USA. 

On being shortlisted for an award, Dr Oluikpe said: 

I was pleasantly surprised to have been shortlisted, not because I didn’t believe in myself, but because I knew there were equally very excellent candidates out there. 

“UK Universities are known to produce solid graduates. However, I am delighted that my Loughborough background came through for me.”
