Tobi Ogundipe, a 2017 Economics graduate, has recently founded Diverse, a recruitment company to support the careers of people from diverse backgrounds.

Following graduation, Tobi was on a graduate scheme with BT. Realising he had time to support others, he set up Diverse in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recognising the impact on peoples’ mental health, career prospects and youth unemployment – particularly in people from BAME backgrounds – Tobi began creating content for his careers platform that included articles, podcasts and videos. Supporting others with advice on CVs, networking, and an online interactive interview guide, Tobi’s platform received a lot of traction.

Over 3,000 candidates have been attracted to roles through Diverse since it was launched last year. Candidates have been able to connect with employers who are particularly interested in diversity. Companies can work with Diverse to advertise roles that will be shared online and emailed directly to early-career candidates.

Tobi wants to build a platform that provides opportunities to people as well as giving them the resources to succeed and has now left his role at BT to pursue his start-up.
