Graduates bring students together to support SMEs

House Hack was started by two graduates from the School of Business & Economics, Charlie Rogers and Ryan McGee, at the height of the COVID-19 lockdown in April 2020.

Amidst growing unemployment and business closure, House Hack was founded to provide consulting services to SMEs needing to adapt in these difficult circumstances.

Charlie and Ryan were heavily involved with Enterprise throughout their degrees. Ryan was Vice-President of Enactus, an organisation inspired to make societal change through social enterprise, whilst Charlie undertook a year in enterprise as part of his degree, during which he founded his own business.

Through House Hack, the pair work to offer students opportunities to learn from real businesses and provide innovative consulting to SMEs through virtual events.

Charlie said:

“It has been really rewarding to provide students with valuable experience to add to their CVs and create real impact within SMEs”.

House Hack has so far facilitated five events with 21 SMEs. Working with 82 participants from 12 countries, House Hack brings together both cognitive and cultural diversity, generating valuable ideas and implementation strategies for businesses.
