Ear guards for NHS workers produced by alumni business

ExpHand Prosthetics, founded by alumna Kate Walker during her final year at university, has been producing 3D printed ear guards for NHS workers at Leicester hospitals.

The ear guards aim to prevent and reduce the pain of blisters caused by wearing protective face masks for long periods of time.

Kate said:

“We're thankful to be able to donate time on our 3D printers to make products like these.”

Kate created ExpHand Prosthetics to offer a realistic solution to creating prosthetic limbs. The prosthetic arms can be adjusted to fit any child between three and ten years old and cost less than £50 to produce.

The alumna graduated with a degree in Product Design Engineering in 2019.
