Alumnus calls for revolution in healthcare policy

James Kusena, a former PhD student in Loughborough’s Centre for Biological Engineering, has addressed the challenges associated with the adoption of cell and gene therapies, in collaboration with Medicine by Design at the University of Toronto.

The paper published in Cell and Gene Therapy Insights outlines recommendations of an international workshop hosted by Medicine by Design at the University of Toronto.

The workshop brought together 40 clinicians, policy makers and industry leaders from Canada, the US and the UK to discuss issues around the adoption on implementation of new regenerative therapies.

The paper calls on policy makers, governments and healthcare providers to ensure new therapies will be safe, effective, affordable, and widely available to those in need.
