Alumna’s novel explores Leicestershire’s role in the Great War

Karen Ette has released the first and only novel to have been written about the Leicestershire Regiment in the First World War, published by Goldcrest Books.

Her book, Don’t Be Late in the Morning, draws on her PhD studies of Great War literature.

The novel uses unpublished archive material, including a soldier’s diary and the letters and postcards he exchanged with his family, and parish magazines from the time.

The book was launched at Loughborough’s Carillon Tower and War Memorial on 21 December 2019, more than 100 years since the end of the war.

Karen graduated with an MA in Creative Writing in 2011 and a PhD in English in 2016 and she is also a Chaplain at the University.

You can find out more and purchase the book online.
