Alumna launches collection of short stories in her first book

Kelly Punton has recently launched her first book, a collection of short stories called When Strange Calls You Home.

The twelve short stories have been described as ‘magical realism or speculative fiction’. Each story explores mundane moments that can change your day or even your whole life.

Kelly currently works as a secondary school teacher, whilst also pursuing her passion for creative writing.

The alumna said:

“This short story collection had been a dream of mine for a few years, but it was taking a long time. In September 2019 I decided to reduce my full-time teaching job to four days so I could have a full day set aside for writing. Since then, I have been able to find a writing rhythm and achieve my writing goals.”

Kelly graduated in English and Drama in 2013.

When Strange Calls You Home is available online.
