Alumna appointed as new Principal and Chief Executive of Loughborough College
Jo Maher has been appointed as the new Principal and Chief Executive of Loughborough College, following more than two years as Principal and Chief Executive at Boston College in Lincolnshire.
The appointment is a return to Lougborough for Jo, who worked for nine years as a lecturer and a head of department within Loughborough College, and who achieved a Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University in 2009.
The alumna is currently a Youth Commissioner for the Learning and Work Institute and a Trustee of the Skills and Education Group, as well as an internationally published academic whose essay on an apprenticeship reform was part of a House of Commons debate.
Jo is also a practitioner psychologist and was previously a lead psychologist for World Skills Team UK, and has worked with athletes from grassroots to Olympic standard and with professional sports teams.
Jo said: “I am honoured and privileged to return to Loughborough College as the new Principal and CEO. I recognise that as a nation our focus is rightly on health and wellbeing at this time. I would like to thank all of our staff, students and parents who have supported the move to online learning and adhered to social distancing and would like to pay tribute to our amazing health and social care colleagues. Loughborough is a strong and stable college and once safe to do so, following all government guidance, I look forward to opening our fantastic campus and welcoming back our returning and new students for a bright future.”
Congratulations to Jo on her new role.
