Loughborough Alumni

Were you involved in the LGBT+ Association at Loughborough?

LU Arts, the University Arts Centre, has invited artist Ian Giles to develop a new artwork as part of LGBT+ History month for February 2020.

Ian’s work is inspired by LGBT+ histories. We are interested in finding stories from alumni to help to build a picture of the history of the association, and to inspire Ian in his work.

Maybe you first came out at Loughborough or met your future partner here. You might have been an active member of a gay and lesbian society or participated in a protest march.

Whatever the memory, Ian and the LGBT+ Association would like to hear from you. They are looking for all kinds of memories that build up a picture of being a gay or lesbian student through the decades. It could simply be an anecdote, a photograph, or a memory of what the society or associations were like during your time at the University.

Loughborough currently has very active LGBT+ Staff and Student Associations and the University has recently become a Stonewall Diversity Champion.

If you have any anecdotes to share, please contact us by email, sharing your story, year of the memory and (if applicable).
