Sporting alumna launches female football academy in India
Pioneering alumna and entrepreneur, Aditi Chauhan, has founded the very first football academy in India exclusively for females.
“She Kicks Football Academy” aims to empower young girls through football while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle.
Growing up in India, Aditi had a passion for football, but there was a distinct lack of training facilities available to her. She comments on how Loughborough was the “turning point” for her, opening many doors to a career in sport.
She recognised the positive impact sport could have on young people and how it had the ability to boost their self-belief, self-confidence and resilience.
Loughborough University acts as a “knowledge partner” for the Academy, offering research-backed advice on programme content. Through this collaboration, students can to learn about nutrition and strength and conditioning.
Parents and fellow female coaches in India also have access to regular workshops, designed to help their understanding of these important topics.
Aditi was challenged throughout the process of setting up her own business:
“There were lots of unexpected situations along the way, but I actually enjoyed that. I feel proud that I am working hard every day towards something that I am genuinely very passionate about”.
After graduating, Aditi completed an internship at Loughborough University London. It was here she developed the confidence and courage to embark on her entrepreneurial journey.
She Kicks Football Academy currently has one centre in Delhi and there are already plans for a second in April 2019.
Aditi graduated from Loughborough University in 2015 with an MSc in Sports Management.
We wish Aditi continued success in her footballing venture.
