Alumnus planning Israel trip with GB American Football team

Liam Browne is preparing for a trip to Israel in August as part of the coaching team for the women’s British Flag American Football team.

Liam is the defensive coordinator for the team, which will compete in the European Championships next month. Flag American Football is comparable to tag rugby, with the game being non-contact.

At the last European Championship, held in Denmark in 2017, the British team won the bronze medal, and will be looking to earn a place at the World Championships this time around.

Liam graduated in 2010 with a BA in English and Sports Science, before completing a PGCE in 2011. He played for the Loughborough Aces, the university’s American Football Club, in all his four years at University.

With Flag American Football being an amateur sport, Liam is self-funding his trip. You can find out more about Liam’s efforts online.

We wish Liam and the team the best of luck at the Championships.
