Alumnus appointed as UEA Pro-Vice Chancellor
Professor Mark Searcey has been appointed as Pro-Vice Chancellor for Science at the University of East Anglia.
Mark will take up the role from 1 April, having been at the university since 2010 as Chair of Medicinal Chemistry. He has also been head of the UEA’s Schools of Pharmacy and Chemistry since 2011.
After graduating from Loughborough in 1985 with a BSc in Chemistry, Mark earned a PhD from the University of Hertfordshire in 1989. His research has seen him work in London, Dublin and California, as well as having been an author on around 80 papers.
The UEA, based in Norwich, opened in 1963 and now has around 17,000 students.
