Alumni share their recruitment experiences with international students
On Wednesday 30 October, Ross Clarke and Wei Wang returned to campus to share their recruitment tips with international students.
The “Making yourself attractive to employers” event was designed to help international students prepare for the workplace. Our alumni speakers emphasised the importance of developing skills and increasing self-awareness.
Ross, a Lead Technical Programme Manager for Tesco PLC, opened with a discussion about building a personal brand. He encouraged students to be themselves in order to naturally stand out from the crowd.
Wei, Managing Director of 2W China Investment Consulting Ltd, then stepped up to give an overview of his career. He talked about the skills needed to succeed in business.
Wei came to Loughborough as an international student in 1985 and was able to resonate with the audience. He spoke about his own experiences and advised students on how to make the most of their time at the University.
Ross graduated in 2014 with a BSc in Computing and Management and Wei completed his Manufacturing Engineering PhD in 1989.
Thank you to our alumni for volunteering their time and expertise to help our international students.
