Alumni share their experiences of the Asian job market with current students
On 5 February 2019, two alumni returned to the Loughborough campus to deliver a presentation to current international students on applying for roles in Asia.
Neil Allsop graduated from Loughborough in 2002 with a BSc in Computing and Management and the following year, he made the move to Singapore. With a passion for sport, Neil joined the Football Association of Singapore and held various positions before setting up his own Football Academy.
Fast forward 14 years, Neil is a Business Development Manager in the West Midlands.
Daniel Teran completed his BSc Sport and Exercise Science studies in 2012 and soon after, relocated to the Philippines where he secured a Financial Language Analyst role at FactSet. Daniel is now an Innovation Funding consultant based in Leicestershire.
On the evening, Neil stood before an audience of approx. 50 students and spoke about his post-graduation journey in Singapore. During his presentation, Neil emphasized the powers of networking and advised students to ‘treat the company as your own, and you will go far’.
Daniel then took the floor to share his experiences in the Philippines, providing a detailed overview of the recruitment process and work culture.
Daniel encouraged students to take advantage of the extra-curricular opportunities presented at University, explaining how such activities can develop key skills.
Thank you to our alumni for volunteering their time and expertise to help our international students. We look forward to welcoming them back to campus soon.
