Alumni gather in Manhattan and Boston to meet senior University staff
On Saturday 23 February, Professor Rachel Thomson, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Rachel Third, Head of Philanthropy, hosted an alumni dinner at Harry’s restaurant in Lower Manhattan.
Guests were greeted with a drinks reception which provided the perfect opportunity to reconnect and socialise with fellow alumni. The group were then seated for an enjoyable three-course meal.
Professor David Deacon, Acting Dean of Loughborough University London and Professor Tony Edwards, Acting Associate Dean for Teaching and Professor of International Management were also in attendance.
Attendees took great pleasure in hearing Loughborough’s latest achievements and developments.
Alumni in New York have created a thriving Facebook community where members can network and arrange further independent events.
From the Big Apple, Loughborough representatives moved onto Boston where they held an alumni breakfast event at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, on Monday 25 February.
The event offered alumni the chance to meet with Guy Broadbent, an Alumni Advisory Board member. Guy is passionate about increasing the number of student placement opportunities in the US and encouraged his fellow alumni to open their networks.
The trip to America marked exactly one year since Vice-Chancellor, Professor Robert Allison, hosted a large alumni reception in New York. University representatives regularly travel around the world to meet with international alumni and we look forward to the next overseas event.
