Alumnae named in England cricket squads

Nine alumnae are part of the England Women’s cricket squads named ahead of their tours of India and Sri Lanka.
Laura Marsh (Cert Ed, 2010), Tammy Beaumont (Chemistry and Sports Science, 2012), Lauren Winfield (Sports Science, 2014), Georgia Elwiss (Sport Science with Management, 2015), Amy Jones (Applied Sports Science, 2015), Natalie Sciver (Sport and Exercise Science, 2015), Anya Shrubsole (Psychology, 2015), Fran Wilson (Sport and Exercise Nutrition, 2015) and Linsey Smith (Sport Coaching, 2017) have all been called up to the squad.
The group includes four players who featured in the 2018 T20 Final against Australia last November. Current student Sophia Dunkley has also been called up, as well as Katherine Brunt, who was the University’s Head Cricket Coach from 2010-12.
Rob Taylor, the University’s Head Women’s Cricket Coach said: “It is great to see so many Loughborough-linked players selected for the England squad. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and wish them the best of luck for the tour.”
The tour kicks off later this month when England Women travel to India for three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 internationals, before heading to Sri Lanka.
