A big thank you this Volunteers Week

This Volunteers Week (1 – 7 June 2019), we want to say a big thank you to all our alumni who have given their time to the University in the last year.

In the academic year 2018-19, almost 150 volunteering activities have been completed by alumni, with 100 of those taking place in 2019.

From sitting on panels about diversity in the workplace through to large-scale “My Story” lectures as part of our new Personal Best programme, alumni have been visiting the University to give back in a range of ways.

Alumni have shared insights into their working lives and industries with fellow alumni as well as students, and many also sit on our Alumni Advisory Board. Another group of alumni also contribute to our Hall of Fame committee and selection process, and occasionally, we enjoy some one-off activities such as the Red Arrows flypast.

Entrepreneurs have contributed to our new Start-Up boxes, and there have been a series of activities to inspire sixth formers to consider their higher education options. Alumni have also contributed to student development through mentoring and many of our international groups support student recruitment fairs and activities worldwide.

In whatever way you have been involved this year, through volunteering in-person, sharing news about Loughborough on social media, or simply telling your friends about Loughborough, we are truly grateful.

We look forward to working with more alumni on guest lectures, events and activities in the coming months and to hearing more exciting and inspirational stories.
