Winter Olympics debut for alumna
Alumna Emily Sarsfield will make her Olympic debut on 23 February in ski cross.
Having donned her first pair of skis aged just 3, Emily was competing for the England Alpine Ski squad by the age of 13, following in the footsteps of her older sister and fellow alumna Victoria Sarsfield (Sports Science and Social Science, 2003).
During her time at Loughborough, Emily was part of the snowsport club, Loughborough Sno. After graduating, she then swapped alpine skiing for the emerging sport of ski cross.
Competing in Pyeongchang for Team GB, this is Emily’s first Olympic competition as she was ruled out of both the Vancouver and Sochi Olympics due to a knee injury and needing surgery.
Emily graduated from Loughborough in 2005 with a degree in Sports Science and Social Science.
We wish Emily the best of luck in her ski cross event on 23 February.
