Lynne’s love for Loughborough shared in new book
A Loughborough alumna has published her first book in an attempt to promote Leicestershire’s second largest town through tales of its historic buildings.
Lynne Dyer’s book, ‘Loughborough in 50 Buildings’, gives a friendly introduction to buildings across the town, from historical town buildings to modern University structures. As well as her book, Lynne also shows her love of the town through her blog, which has recently celebrated its fifth birthday.
After graduating from Loughborough in 1981 with a degree in Library Studies, Lynne complemented this with an Advanced Diploma in Local History from Oxford University. She has also become an Accredited Leicestershire Tour Guide, specialising in Loughborough history.
Lynne said, “I’ve written it with the aim of promoting our lovely town – to locals, to students and to potential visitors! I am keen to promote the relationship between “town and gown” and if new students learn a bit about the history of some of our buildings I would be happy.”
