Frank Dick OBE is set to be a key presenter at the forefront of the International Festival of Athletics Coaching (IFAC) next month.

Frank, who was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame in 2015, will present ‘Coaching Excellence’ at the event, hosted from 4-6 January at the University’s new Elite Athlete Centre and the High Performance Athletics Centre (HiPAC).

The IFAC is the main annual event of the European Athletics Coaches Association (EACA) and will see three days of sessions focusing on technical skill, strength and conditioning and people skills.

Frank, who is President of the EACA, will focus on how to take an athlete from school or club level to the international stage and how to ensure athletes recognise their potential.

He is one of a plethora of international coaches and leading sports figures at the event. This includes fellow alumni and FA Director of Women’s Football, Baroness Sue Campbell and Swiss Hammer Throw champion Martin Bingisser.

Frank graduated from Loughborough with a DLC in 1965. After becoming Director of Coaching for UK Athletics in 1979, he guided British athletics to its ‘golden era’, with Olympic gold medallists such as Daley Thompson, Steve Ovett and Lord Sebastian Coe KBE. He received an OBE for services to athletics in 1989.
