Alumnus takes off in new airport role
Dave Lees joined Bristol Airport as its new CEO in August 2018, after several years as Managing Director of Southampton Airport, and previously as the Airport Operations Director and Planning and Development Director.
During his time as MD, Southampton achieved record growth in both passenger numbers and service level achievements.
Dave has also had a successful aviation career across a range of roles at other UK Airports including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted.
Upon his appointment, Dave said:
“I am proud, honoured and excited to be joining the Bristol Airport team. The Airport has a great reputation for its route development and network, passenger growth and the vital role it plays in the region.”
Bristol Airport, which is also the UK’s fifth busiest outside London, handled over 8 million passengers in 2017. The airport is currently aiming to increase its capacity, with a view to serve 20 million passengers a year by the mid-2040s.
Dave has a BSc in Transport Management from Loughborough University where his passion for aviation developed.
