Alumnus Barry Eccleston shares an insight into his high-flying career
Barry Eccleston recently visited the Loughborough University campus to take part in a Q&A event with students from engineering and design disciplines.
The former President and CEO of Airbus America shared an interesting insight into his career journey, autonomous vehicles and Brexit.
Barry encouraged the students to “think big” and advised that valuing your team, family and friends is always important. He said, “Give them the credit they are due. No one likes the big headed guy!”
The alumnus did not realise until around 15 years into his career that he had potential to reach the top of the industry ladder. Volunteering his top tips, he encouraged the students to think about how to maximise their full potential early on in their career.
As part of his campus visit, Barry also toured the Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering department and heard about the latest Formula Student car, which will be on display at the RAC.
Barry graduated from Loughborough in 1969 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He retired from his role at Airbus America in 2017.
Thank you to Barry for volunteering his time.
