These have been developed from WELL's extensive experience in water, sanitation and environmental health. These are regularly updated to reflect current issues and thinking within the water, sanitation and environmental health sector. LESSONS LEARNED FROM NGO EXPERIENCES compiled by the WELL Resource Centre this comprises 31 summaries of NGO projects in the water sector and the lessons learned from them, together with the edited proceedings of a workshop held in London in January 1998. The project summaries were prepared by NGO's and cover a wide geographical range, with a variety of lessons identified from the projects. Three overview papers were presented at the workshop which are also included. originally published in Waterlines, a leading journal of appropriate technologies for water supply and sanitation, these illustrated technical briefs bring together information and guidance on a variety of topics from water source selection and handpump maintenance to sanitary surveying, hygiene understanding and community management. These briefs provide great practical help to sector agencies and fieldworkers. was one of a number of official parallel events to the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) held in Johannesburg from 28 August to 3 September 2002. Within it the knowledgepool provided information relating to water supply and sanitation. A series of advocacy documents were produced by DFID for this, each providing a two-page summary of a key aspect of the topic.
