- Access to Loughborough alumni database where students can be put in touch with Loughborough graduates working in a range of occupational areas
- Up to 400 places on the Loughborough Employability Award scheme, which enables students to demonstrate evidence of skills they have gained outside their academic work. The award is recognised by the University and has the support of employers
We also run sessions in most departments on CVs, application forms and preparing for interview to assist students in successfully applying for a placement year.
At Loughborough we are very proud of the employment record of our graduates. In 2009, the latest year for which figures are currently available, 69% of Loughborough graduates in employment were working in ‘higher graduate’ level occupations, compared with the national average of 62%.
Our graduates are very highly regarded by a wide range of employers and in the 2011 ‘Graduate Market’ review by ‘High Fliers’ we were listed as the 13th most targeted university by employers. Further details on where our graduates are employed can be found on our website.

Graduate Gateway Scheme
We have recruited from Loughborough for several years into our graduate programmes. As a direct result of this we have a number of Loughborough alumni at many levels throughout the firm.
Ernst & Young
Once you complete your degree, you may wish to take advantage of the Graduate Gateway Scheme, which provides talented graduates with an excellent opportunity to fast track their career.
The University works closely with graduates and businesses alike to define a 26-week paid placement matched to your skills and abilities and a company’s goals.
In many cases the graduate finds permanent employment with the company once the placement is completed.
Enterprising students
At Loughborough we aim to provide students with a practical environment to grow and exploit entrepreneurial skills and ideas.

We do this by providing all students with an opportunity to engage in enterprise education and activities, and practical services and facilities to support promising students in the realisation of their goals.
Being taught by staff active in cutting edge research makes learning exciting, relevant and up-to-date.
The University has a student enterprise manager to help students identify, protect and exploit the commercial potential of their ideas. A monthly enterprise forum hosts talks by Loughborough graduates who have set up their own successful businesses and other established business owners and entrepreneurs. These meetings are a great opportunity to network with other enterprising students.
An annual student business plan competition, with a £6,000 prize fund, rewards Loughborough’s most promising business ideas.
