Book a hotel

If you’re travelling far, staying overnight will give you the added bonus of getting to know the area. Submerge yourself into everything Loughborough has to offer and book a room at Burleigh Court or the Link Hotel.

More information can be found on our overnight accommodation page.

Plan your day

To get the most out of your time with us, we recommend taking a look at the open day guide‌ and plan what talks, tours and presentations you want to attend. There are lots of options so you can tailor your open day to meet your needs.

Who’s coming with you?

Ask someone to come with you. A parent/guardian is perfect, as they will have lots of questions which they will want answering as well.

Weather forecast

Take a look at the weather forecast – you might need sunglasses or an umbrella. Hopefully it’s not the latter!

Wear comfortable shoes

There will be lots of walking and standing, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes. We don’t want anyone leaving with a blister!

There is so much to do once you’re here it can be easy to get distracted, to help you get the most out of your time with us, here’s a short checklist to make sure you stay on track.

Register

Once you arrive on campus, you will be able to register at a number of different locations across campus. You can find registration points at;

You can also register at any one of the gazebos which are dotted around campus.

Tweet us

Let everyone know you’re here and Tweet us. We’d love to hear from you.

Accommodation

Come and see our accommodation. Don’t worry if you can’t visit the accommodation you’re thinking of applying to, they are all very similar.

Did you know that Loughborough University won the WhatUni? Choice Award for the Best Student Accommodation in 2015.

Visit the Students’ Union

Visit the Students' Union to get an idea of what clubs, societies and events take place, plus you’ll be able to grab something to eat and drink.

The Students’ Union won the WhatUni? Choice Award for the Best Students Union in 2015.

Subject talks

Attend a departmental talk to find out more about your subject of interest. This is a great opportunity to check out the facilities within the department and ask those questions you’ve been burning to ask.

Ask lots of questions

Make sure you ask lots of questions. We recommend composing a list of questions before you arrive so you don’t forget to ask those questions you’re eager to ask.

For inspiration on what questions you can ask while you’re here, view our handy list of questions here.

Speak to current students

Speak with current students and take this opportunity to ask them lots of questions. This is the best way to find out what it’s like to live and study here. We’ll have lots of student helpers who’ll be easy to spot, so don’t be afraid to stop and have a chat with them.

Get contact details

When you leave you’re bound to have questions, so make sure you take the contact details of the people you spoke to within your department. This will allow you to get in touch with them following the open day.
