Information for...

Parents

This is a guide for parents or guardians of students considering making an application to study at Loughborough University.

We are delighted that your son or daughter is considering applying to study at Loughborough University. Applying to university is the first step in a process which although exciting, may not be totally free of uncertainties.

We hope the other pages in this section will be of interest and give you some background information about Loughborough University.

Data Protection Issues

It may occasionally be necessary for a third party (for example parents or school) to seek advice from us about the progress of a student’s application, or about bursary or scholarship eligibility, without obtaining their approval first.

The University would normally wish to co-operate with such a request, provided that the student’s UCAS application number and some other personal details are supplied. If students would prefer the University not to discuss their application with a third party, they should inform us in writing.

If a student is firmly accepted by the University, their contact details will be forwarded to Loughborough Students Union prior to the start of the academic year in order that they can be sent information on services and events for new students. If a student does not wish their details to be passed to Loughborough Students Union they should inform the University of this in writing.

Finally

Loughborough is a great place to live and learn. There is a real sense of being part of an inclusive and dynamic community, fostering a strong spirit of belonging and involvement. Lasting friendship bonds develop quickly and widely.

Our students and graduates just love to talk about the ‘Loughborough Experience’. They think it’s great, and we are confident that our new students will continue to do so too.
