Why did you choose Loughborough University?
Loughborough University is considered one of the top universities for design in the industry so I wanted to study somewhere with the best facilities in the UK. When attending the open days, the tutors seemed very welcoming and helpful - and that fact that the School has a 24 hour cad lab based in the building is brilliant! Loughborough also has great job aspects and is brilliant for finding relevant placement opportunities.
What do you enjoy about your course?
I really enjoy the amount of projects and hands on prototyping we get to take part in, which is unlike many other courses in the UK. I really enjoy the Industrial Design Studies module I am taking this year as we have done extensive research and learnt about industrial design techniques which will really help us to focus and improve our other projects. The Design school has top facilities, so we can use machines at any time, all year round!
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The majority of lecturers are top in their field for the subject so the quality of teaching is great.
Will you do a professional placement?
Yes, I’m currently preparing a portfolio for the year in industry and applying for placements.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I hope to bring out my own product and set up a company. The enterprise part of the Design School should help me to establish this.
What would you say to someone considering your course?
Definitely apply as the course opens a wide range of job opportunities due to the course which covers a great amount of skills.
How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?
I’m currently in TADA (the University's design & creative society) and Photosoc. They are great societies as they always have events going on and the social side is great as you get to meet lots of new people with similar interests.
Has Loughborough inspired you?
I would definitely say Loughborough University has inspired me, not only by the lecturers but also by the great Design School building we have. Companies search for LU Design students as the University has such a good reputation for design.
