The reputation of the University and positive testimonials from students; no one had a bad word to say! The fact that everything is so close together and the atmosphere of Loughborough were definitely deciding factors. But ultimately the reputation of the University was what made me choose here.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I really like the variety of modules and the opportunity to conduct my own research. I am able to utilise my own ideas effectively, with support from the department, to form part of my degree.

In terms of modules, I’ve really enjoyed Psychology and Health. It was something completely different to any of the other modules offered on the course and gave a real insight into health and the role of psychological factors in understanding and improving it.

What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?

Very good! There is a clear expectation for students and we are supplied with the means to not only learn within the contact hours but to support our own independent learning.

Have you had any support from the University?

My personal tutor has been amazing, especially when I was experiencing some personal issues in my second year. He was able to direct me towards student services who supported me throughout the semester and exam period.

What are some of the different things you can do on your course?

In your first year you have the opportunity to take part in final year projects as part of the course. This allows you to gain a real insight how research is conducted before having to complete your own.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I hope to go on to eventually do my doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Loughborough has allowed me to cover some useful subject matter within my modules. This gives me a strong grounding on which to develop my knowledge. I am also a keen member of the volunteering sector at the Students’ Union. I have loved every second and made so many friends. The volunteering has also allowed me to gain a variety of new skills and gives me experience to supplement my degree.
