Year of Study

BA (Hons)

Why did you choose Loughborough University?

I have a keen interest in media content with an aim to further my knowledge of Web Design and specialise in UI/UX Design.

What attracted you to the University in the first place?

I first came to Loughborough when visiting a family member who was a student here at the time. The campus as a whole attracted me and the course structure confirmed my decision to study here.

What do you enjoy about your course?

The social aspect of the course – I love working in groups with friends and peers.

What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?

I’ve dabbled in various styles on the course such as typography, advertising, branding, illustration and animation. This wouldn’t have been feasible without the staff at Loughborough.

Do you have a particularly favourite project/module on your course? Why did you enjoy it?

Web Design. I want to pursue a career in this and my enthusiasm is reflected in the work I completed.

What are some of the exciting/different things you can do on your course?

Book binding, traditional animation, claymation, digital animation, screen printing and lots more.

What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?

I intend to go into Front End Web Development or UI/UX Design, something I’ve been working towards since I was 16. My degree will demonstrate that I’m a designer with skills in multiple fields and not just Web Based Design – I could also use my degree to pursue a career in Media Content and Advertisement.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

Do it. You will learn a lot in terms of design, Loughborough have the staff and like-minded individuals to inspire you so you can never stop learning. Have an open mind when learning, there is so much to discover.

How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?

There are lots of societies and clubs you can join on campus. The options are endless – most people tend to sign up to dozens during Freshers’ week then choose their favourite!

What do you enjoy the most about being a Loughborough University student?

The close-knit community. The majority of students know each other either through a friend, course, society or club. You make friends with people from many different backgrounds and learn about places you’ve never even heard of.
