Why did you choose Loughborough University?
Loughborough’s fantastic reputation for student experience and the structure of the course really appealed to me. The modules sounded great and I really dislike exams so having coursework as the only assessment method was a bonus.
What attracted you to the University in the first place?
Going to an open day is the best thing you can do, on my first visit I felt like Loughborough was going to be my home from home, everyone was so helpful and friendly and the department was cosy and welcoming, I really didn’t want to study anywhere else!
What do you enjoy about your course?
The range of texts studied combined with the compulsory modules ensure that you have a broad understanding of literature, both for their historic and contemporary significance. This helps a great deal when writing essays and with your overall understanding and appreciation of texts.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
Teaching quality is second to none: at Loughborough we have the most enthusiastic and passionate lecturers available. I really enjoy my lectures and seminars, there’s something exciting about having a specialist teaching you that I truly love.
Do you have a particularly favourite project/module on your course? Why did you enjoy it?
My favourite module without a doubt so far was ‘An Introduction to Poetry’. It is an area of study that I was previously unfamiliar with and it taught me how to read, analyse and appreciate poetry.
What kind of support have you had in the department and from the University?
The department as a whole offer a great deal of help and support in order to help me overcome any adversity I may be face whilst studying for my degree. I can honestly say that at Loughborough University you are never on your own.
What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?
I am currently undecided about what I want to pursue as a career after graduating but becoming a lecturer is definitely one of my aspirations. What I do know is that a degree from Loughborough is well respected and mine will stand me in good stead for the future.
What would you say to someone considering your course?
I went to several open days across the country and Loughborough just leapt out at me – I knew that I would love it here. My advice would be to see as much of the university as you can when you visit and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?
Loughborough is well-known for its student experience – there is so much to do and join in with. They even have a Rock Music Society and a fortnightly event in the Union, which I absolutely love! There is literally something here for everyone.

I am proud to tell people that I am a Loughborough University student because of its great reputation. I had to work hard during my A levels to get in but since then I have had the best experience I could have hoped for.
