Why did you choose Loughborough University?
I chose to study at Loughborough University because the campus is fantastic and the facilities and staff at the department are excellent.
What attracted you to the University in the first place?
I was attracted to the university because of its location and its reputation for a great student experience. The department appealed to me because of its close links to industry and excellent employment statistics.
What do you enjoy about your course?
I like the wide variety of subject matter available to choose from in later years. Whatever your interest there will most likely be a module for it.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The teaching quality is fantastic and the labs are excellent, they are constantly updated and improved with all the equipment that we need to help improve our studies.
Do you have a particularly favourite project/module on your course? Why did you enjoy it?
In your first year, you are assigned a tutor to assist with any questions you have about what is being taught in the current lectures. These tutors are there for assistance and extra-curricular support if required.
What kind of support have you had in the department and from the University?
The MEng Part C group project is a really enjoyable but challenging task. As a team of multi-disciplinary members you have to create a solution to a complex problem involving at least two robots that have to communicate with each other to efficiently solve the task at hand.
What are some of the exciting/different things you can do on your course?
Throughout the course there are many different things that you have the opportunity to get involved with. Some of the most exciting things are competitions that are hosted by a variety of companies, giving students the opportunity to work on projects outside their curriculum and gain extra knowledge and experience.
Have you completed a placement whilst at University?
I plan to do a one-year placement after my third year so I can gain experience in applying the engineering knowledge I have gained to the real world.
What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?
When I graduate I hope to be employed by an internationally recognised organisation working as a Hardware Design Engineer so I can further my knowledge and provide solutions to everyday problems.
What would you say to someone considering your course?
I would say that they should come along to one of the Open Days to experience our great facilities and meet the staff. The reputation we have with employers gives students a great opportunity to make connections and have a successful career.
How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?
There is a reason Loughborough has been rated the best university for student satisfaction on multiple occasions. The number of clubs and societies available allows people with a huge variety of interests to have an amazing experience at Loughborough.
What do you enjoy the most about being a Loughborough University student?
The thing I enjoy most about being a Loughborough student is the opportunities that are available to everyone. I am a programme rep myself and I really enjoy the impact I have on both my fellow peers and future students.
Has Loughborough inspired you?
Loughborough University has inspired me to be the most successful person I can be. It has broadened my horizons with possibilities for the future. My main inspiration has come from representing the department on Open Days where I have to interact with future students and share my experiences and knowledge, inspiring them to become the best that they can be.
