Materials Engineering
Automotive Materials
General information
This degree course combines the core elements of materials engineering with specific training of relevance to the automotive (vehicle) industries. Selective modules are taught in conjunction with the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering.
As with Materials Engineering, the MEng and DIS (industrial sandwich year) options are available. This course is particularly designed for those who wish to pursue a career in automotive and transport engineering.
Backed by all sectors of the automotive and transport industries, this is the definitive course to prepare you for a career in an important industrial world market.
The course utilises the resources and expertise for which Loughborough University is a Centre of Excellence (and is recognised as such by BAE Systems, Ford Motor Company, and Rolls-Royce, as well as by national research and education leaders in materials and automotive engineering).
It offers a special blend of materials engineering knowledge linked to an appreciation of vehicle and engine design, plus management skills and the international awareness that is required of professional engineers.
Recent graduate destinations and positions
Jaguar Land Rover: Project Engineer, Jpen Medical: Medical Engineer, Rolls-Royce: IPT Technical Assistant, BAE Systems: Project Engineer and Howmet Castings: Process Engineer.
