Why did you choose Loughborough University?
Materials engineering is fundamental to a wide range of engineering disciplines, allowing me to apply what I’ve learnt to multiple sectors.

Loughborough is well respected for the quality of its engineering courses and graduates, standing me in great stead when looking for a job in the future.
What do you enjoy about your course?
Studying Automotive Materials allows me to see how the type of materials engineering I’m studying relates to the engineering problems in the automotive sector.
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The materials characterisation equipment available to students at the LMCC allows for hands-on experience, including a wide range of the latest top quality machines relevant to industry.
What are some of the exciting/different things you can do on your course?
The option to take a year out and do an industrial placement.
Have you completed a placement whilst at University?
By completing a placement at the university’s LMCC I am getting an insight into the external companies that the materials department works with, so experiencing the everyday work of a materials engineer.
What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?
Thanks to Loughborough University’s work with a wide range of engineering companies the materials department is well known across the industry, which is useful when searching for placements and graduate jobs.
