Why did you choose Loughborough University?
I chose Loughborough because of the high quality teaching. The large amount of Research undertaken at the University and the course suited my interest in cars! On a personal note there were also good local facilities available for my horses.
What do you enjoy about your course?
I really enjoy the mixture of theory and practical learning we are taught throughout the course, as well as the good mix of all year groups within the department. On the course, you get to go to tests days where you plan, run and collect test results as well as in house engine and material testing. This gives a flavour as to what it’s like in industry and its fun. I also enjoy the vehicles dynamics and vehicle handling modules. We learn about degrees of freedom and vehicle stability and I find that very interesting!
What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?
The quality of teaching is really high and reflects the large amount of research undertaken here; the academics who take the lectures are also involved in multiple research projects.
What do you think of the support from the University?
The University gives you a lot of support, whether this is finance, personal or academic issues. This can be from the department or the brilliant student support service we have at the University.
Have you done a professional placement?
I did a ten week summer placement and two weeks experience over the summer. It gave me an insight into the engineering industry and what the working environment is like.
What do you hope to do when you graduate?
I hope to work in the motorsport industry with the opportunity to travel abroad with work. Graduating from Loughborough University has given me the skills and confidence to enable me to work in multiple engineering sectors.
What would you say to someone considering your course?
The course here at Loughborough is amazing and the skills and opportunities will prepare you for the future, all while having fun with your friends!
How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?
The course gives you enough time for socialising and taking part in societies and sporting activities. With so many societies and sporting activities to join, there will be one you are interested in!
While being at Loughborough, I have met so many life-long friends from my course, my halls and society activities. They have made my Loughborough experience amazing and I wouldn’t change one bit!
Has Loughborough inspired you?
Through my job at the University, I have realised I enjoy working with school students, especially outreach and recruitment for the University. It has shown me different areas of work that I’m interested in, which I otherwise would not have found.
