Why did you choose Loughborough University?

I wanted to do an Architectural Engineering degree, which many top universities do not provide. Since Loughborough was ranked top for their student experience, I had to see it for myself.

What attracted you to the University in the first place?

I liked that it is a single-site campus university, rather than a more hectic city campus. I also liked the sporting opportunities provided by the university, to improve my fitness and to meet new people.

What do you enjoy about your course?

I like the range of modules provided – they teach you to think more critically. I have also acquired many technical and interpersonal skills from the course.

What do you think of the teaching quality and facilities?

The lecturers are very knowledgeable about their field of work and are always thinking of their students.

Do you have a particularly favourite project/module on your course? Why did you enjoy it?

I enjoy modules that require design and modelling skills as they test my capabilities and prepare me for a future in the construction industry.

What kind of support have you had in the department and from the University?

Everyone is assigned a personal tutor to provide support with the course. The University’s Careers Network also provides many services, contributing to a high employability rating after graduation.

What are some of the exciting/different things you can do on your course?

We also experience things like surveying, even though I am not studying Quantity Surveying, which makes learning very interesting and varied.

What do you hope to do when you graduate, and how will your Loughborough degree support this?

I hope to work in development in the future. I would like to use my degree to experience various different fields of work and gain more knowledge.

What would you say to someone considering your course?

Be prepared to work hard, also enjoy university!

How do you find the social atmosphere on campus?

There are loads of societies and sports clubs to join and it’s really easy to make new friends who enjoy doing the same thing as you.

What do you enjoy the most about being a Loughborough University student?

I enjoy being able to mix with different people from across the world. There is a friendly, peaceful atmosphere, also lots of sports activities that are readily available and improve my fitness.

Has Loughborough inspired you?

Loughborough has inspired me to try new things as there are always new people to meet and things to explore.
