Inside STEMLab

Engineering fabrication workshop

The Engineering Fabrication suite contains modern, industry standard, technology and equipment which allows students to gain practical, hands-on experience and skills, enabling students to realise their designs and complete assignments using more traditional manufacturing technologies.

The Fabrication Workshop contains a number of open benches for students to create structures using the fabrication technologies mainly based around the perimeter of the lab. These include sheet metal bending and cutting, pillar drills and saws, welding equipment, and a range of hand operated machine tools. The welding area encompasses the latest virtual reality technology to simulate and assess different welding processes and to build confidence in skills and understand the approaches which will be used for scale up of manufacturing technologies.

The Engineering Fabrication suite is set within 139/m2 space with a max capacity of 45.
