Inside STEMLab

Engineering Laboratory

The Engineering Laboratory is a multi-purpose space with the potential for use in a range of engineering laboratory classes. It has a maximum capacity of 84 students, allowing for different activities and experimental set ups in zones within the room.

The laboratory contains different apparatus to explain key engineering principles, for example, mechanics, dynamics, transmissions and material behaviour. Some of the benches at one end of the laboratory are ‘plug and play’ such that they can be moved out of the way to create an open laboratory space which can be used for activities such as stripping down engines, which is part of the curriculum in some engineering degree programmes, and will engender an appreciation of how technology has evolved into the latest hybrid and electric drive propulsion systems.

The Engineering Laboratory workshop is set within a 261/m2 space, with a max capacity of 84 people.
