Open Evenings at Loughborough

Our Postgraduate Open Evening gives you the chance to meet representatives from our Academic Schools and Departments. With staff from both Loughborough and London campuses, it’s the perfect opportunity for you to discover the range of taught and research opportunities available.
‘Ask us’ - Throughout the event you can drop-in and chat to our staff and students. The sessions are informal opportunities for you to ask any questions regarding postgraduate life at Loughborough University. There will be staff from our Postgraduate Admissions team, whom you can speak to about entry requirements, your taught and research application, and financing your studies. Our student ambassadors will share their own experiences of life at Loughborough and will be happy to answer your questions about studying here.
Doctoral College - Find out about the doctoral experience, hear about Graduate House – the postgraduate home-from-home on campus.
Campus tours can be requested at our ‘Ask us’ staff and student drop-ins.
Yes, we advise that you to book on-line in advance. By registering to attend your registration on arrival will be quicker, and we can send you updates and important information before you arrive. Most importantly, by registering, we can identify which School you are interested in and can ensure that you are met by staff from the relevant subject area. Book to attend our open evening here.

Loughborough is at the heart of England in the northern most part of the county of Leicestershire. Being centrally located it is well served by road, rail and air; you can find more details here.
Make your way to West Park Teaching Hub, which is a short walk from the Car Park 1. There will be signs which you can follow to guide you from the Car Park to the Open Evening. If arriving by bus, there is a stop at STEMlab on campus, which is a one-minute walk to West Park Teaching Hub.
The event starts at 4pm, where we you can enjoy some refreshments and find out all there is to know about postgraduate study at Loughborough.
Please note: we cannot guarantee that you will be able to speak to staff that teach your particular programme, however staff from your respective schools and departments will be available.
Coffee morning at Loughborough
Our Postgraduate Coffee Morning is the perfect opportunity for you to explore our outstanding campus, take a guided tour of your department, view accommodation, sports facilities, visit our Students' Union and view our learning and teaching spaces.
The Coffee Morning is run inconjunction with the Undergraduate Open Days, the campus is buzzing with people and things are going on all day. Our Postgraduate Event is a great base for you to find out more and enjoy some refreshments before you venture across our campus.
We will be hosting two Coffee Mornings in 2018, Saturday 30 June and Saturday 22 September. Bookings are not yet open - if you are interested in attending please register your interest with us and we will invite you nearer the time.
What to expect on the day: The whole campus is open for you to explore, you can join us any time between 9.30am - 12.30pm at Graduate House for informal advice and conversation with our current postgraduate students. There will be staff from Admissions to answer any questions you might have. Following your visit to Graduate House you can then tour the campus either on foot or there are frequent (free) buses. We will give you a full Open Day Guide which will list talks, tours and include a map of the campus.
At Graduate House you can:
- Join us for refreshments any time between 9.30am - 12.30pm
- Chat to our current postgraduate students about what doing a Master's or PhD is really like
- Speak to our admissions staff, who can advise you on how to apply and the application process
- See first hand Graduate House - our dedicated social and work space for postgraduates
Whilst touring the campus you can:
- *Take a departmental tour, hear talks and presentations
- Find out more about accommodation options and view halls of residence
- Tour our world-class sports facilities
- Visit our STEMLab, a cutting edge facility and student focused laboratories
- Visit the exhibition of student support services, including careers advice
- Explore our state-of-the-art library and our award winning Students' Union

Please note: academic staff from postgraduate programmes are NOT available at the Coffee Morning.*Our Coffee Mornings are run in conjunction with the University’s Undergraduate Open Day and any presentations or talks will be primarily aimed at an undergraduate student audience, however many of our academic staff teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Interested in a PhD?
Students who are interested in studying a PhD are very welcome to attend the open evening or coffee morning, but we recommend that before doing so they contact the department they are interested in to discuss their ideas and the opportunities available.
