The School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences offers research opportunities in the areas of: Health Science; Behavioural Medicine; Sport Performance and; Social Sciences of Sport, Education and Society.
Research Proposal
Applicants should submit a research proposal with their application. This should be no more than 1,000 words in length and include the aims of the study, a brief literature review, an outline of the proposed research methods and an indication of how research costs will be met.
Entry Qualification
Applicants are normally required to have at least a 2:1 degree at undergraduate level. Having a Masters degree is advantagous in terms of experience and research training.
School Support and Training for Research Students
Research students are allocated a Supervisor who provides academic and personal support and a Director of Research Degree Programme who oversees their progress.
- International and UK/EU student representatives sit on the School’s Research Committee.
- Research training, which includes seminars and taught modules in advanced research methods, is available to all research students.
- A desk and workstation is provided.
- An allowance for photocopying and inter-library loans.
- The opportunity to apply for conference travel grants.
- Assist with tutorials or laboratory practicals for undergraduate students.
