Road and Vehicle Safety MSc

1 year full-time, 2 years part-time plus dissertation

This programme is designed to cover the widening range of approaches to road and vehicle safety. It covers the theory and practice behind the major casualty reduction techniques associated with passive and active safety, road infrastructure, driver assistance and safety policy.

The programme caters for those who require knowledge of both the holistic approach to traffic safety as well as detailed information on specific injury countermeasures. The 2 methods of study comprises a dissertation plus 8 block taught modules, each of which requires an intensive week of residential study at Loughborough.

Teaching will be delivered by experienced academic staff and also draw on contributions from practitioners in the field. In recognition of student’s work or other commitments, studies may be staggered by initially completing a postgraduate certificate or diploma.

Assessment

This will be carried out via a combination of reports, examinations, oral presentations and dissertation.

Entry Qualification*

First degree or equivalent. Other qualifications plus relevant employment experience may be acceptable. A formal interview may be conducted as part of the admissions procedure.
