Who are our ambassadors?
Su is studying postgraduate Marketing and Management and is an international student from China. She does a lot of her ambassador work encouraging prospective international students online or by telephone.
Becoming a student ambassador is one of the most wonderful things for me in Loughborough University. It provides many different work opportunities and I really enjoy it. Another important thing is that I made many friends from it.
When I was a pre-sessional student, the ‘’pink people’’ [Student Support Assistants] helped me a lot. They always supported and encouraged me, which made me want to become a helpful person, and pass the warmth to more students.
My skills development:
I developed communication skills working on the telephone campaign. I called international students holding offers and answered their various questions. Through this work, I understood that understanding other people’s needs is the key to conduct successful communication
There is lot of team work in this job. Take the open day as an example: everyone plays a different role to ensure the event run smoothly. Form this work, I learnt that good teamwork means supporting each other and work for the same goal. And so working as a student ambassador improved my flexibility.
This is a good chance to improve your personal skills and employability. You contact many different people during this work, which is really interesting and exciting. This may be a challenge because the study and work need to be balanced well, but it is worth it. It gives you a chance to create a different experience in the student life.
