The staff have been great and very friendly making the role feel much less like a job, and more like a family.

Adel recently graduated in International Relations and also did a placement year at IBM.

My experience:

I love meeting new people. As a Student Ambassador I met prospective students and families and told them all about my experiences. I also got to meet and interact with a range of other ambassadors and make new friends whose paths wouldn’t normally cross with mine. The staff have also been great and very friendly making the role feel much less like a job, and more like a family.

My motivation:

I wanted to give back to the university because I feel I have gained so much from this experience. I also wanted to show others my passion for Loughborough.

My skills development:

  • Verbal communication is a key skill I’ve developed in this role as I have been able to speak with and interact with a whole range of young people (and parents too!) I’ve been able to talk about Loughborough, my experience and answer any questions posed to me.
  • My skills in teamwork have developed working on large events such as Open Days involving lots of logistics and simultaneous activities. My role gave me the opportunity to work well together with a variety of staff and other ambassadors helping the events to run smoothly.

My recommendation:

You might end up doing lots of new things but I doubt you will feel totally out of your comfort zone because of the other ambassadors and the support from all the staff. It’s such great fun, it really doesn’t feel like a job and I’m sure you’ll end up looking forward to events and wishing you were able to do more!
