Campus developments update
April 23, 2012
The Spring newsatlboro was so jam packed we couldn’t include all our campus developments news, so here’s the bits we couldn’t squeeze in:
Developments in brief
Work on the East Park is into its second phase with demolition of the Bridgeman Centre underway, and flattening of the WEDC building and music centre to follow.
Renovation of the upper floors of Haslegrave will be completed in early July, ready for Computer Science to move back in.
Admin 2 has been refitted for use by staff and students from Information Science, and includes a striking new foyer linking it to the former international office.
The landscaping project outside Admin 1 is also complete.
A new gatehouse is being built at the West entrance to improve the sense of arrival on campus and provide better security. Included in the works are the construction of a pedestrian link between the multi-storey car park, Loughborough Park and SportPark, and improvements to road signs.
In the Pipeline
- Planning applications are being submitted for conversion of the top floor of the Library to a student learning area, and for the National Centre of Sport and Exercise Medicine to be built on the site of the former Bridgeman Centre.
- A number of chemistry labs are due to be moved to Holywell Park in readiness for the demolition of the Graham Oldham Building.
