Peep Show actor shares skills with students
May 12, 2010
On Wednesday 5 May, actor Paterson Joseph, perhaps best-known for his role as businessman Alan Johnson in Channel 4’s Peep Show, took time out from his busy schedule to work with eleven students from the Department of English and Drama.
His one-day workshop, entitled Toward Spontaneity, was aimed at releasing the natural, instinctive creative energy in every performer, and helping students to “tackle the ‘inner critic’ and the ‘need to please’ that every artist battles against”.
The workshop was followed by a Q & A session, open to all students in the department, in which Paterson talked about his own work for theatre, film and television, and gave the students advice on how to succeed as a performer.
Paterson very much enjoyed the time with the students and hopes to make a return visit some time in the next academic year
