Core benefits
Here is a brief overview of some of the key core benefits of working at Loughborough University:

Childcare vouchers
Childcare Vouchers provide a flexible way to meet the costs of childcare.
Under this scheme you can exchange or sacrifice part of your salary in return for Childcare Vouchers. Up to a certain amount, these vouchers are non-taxable and exempt from National Insurance Contributions and therefore represent a saving for you. The Childcare Vouchers can then be exchanged, in whole or part, for a wide variety of childcare services.
Childcare vouchers provide a genuine financial benefit by reducing the cost of your childcare. Please visit the Computershare Voucher Services website for a Parent Information Pack or contact them on 0845 002 1111 (please have a copy of your current payslip to hand for reference).
Childcare
Loughborough Campus Nursery is a registered day nursery providing childcare for the children of staff, students and the community.
Owned by the Students' Union, the nursery is based on campus and is run by staff qualified in childcare and education. They are able to offer a limited number of subsidised places to university staff. The nursery always receives a good Ofsted report and places are highly sought after, therefore you are advised to contact them as soon as possible.
The nursery is open from 8am to 6pm all year round with the exception of the following closure periods: Good Friday, Easter Monday and Tuesday, two May Bank Holidays, Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday in August and two weeks over Christmas.

GetOnYerBike scheme
Loughborough University is committed to a green future and a healthy campus and in support of this the University runs a scheme to help employees with the cost of purchasing a bicycle and related equipment.
The University will purchase the bicycle on your behalf and deduct regular repayments from your salary. The repayments are made before NI and Income Tax thereby saving you between 25% and 45% on the retail price of the cycle, depending on your personal income tax position. In order to qualify for this scheme the bicycle must be used for at least 50% of your journey to and from work.
The campus has changing rooms and showers for use by staff who choose to travel to the University by walking, running or cycling.

Pick me up! Lift share scheme
The University is committed to leading change in environmental sustainability. We use our expertise in transport and sustainability to make a major contribution to the sustainability agenda in the East Midlands.
Car Sharing is where two of more people share a car journey together. You don’t even need a car to be part of the scheme. If you need a lift you can still register.
It has obvious environmental and financial benefits as a practice. If everyone who would normally drive to work on their own for 5 days a week share a lift for one day a week, then the carbon emissions and fuel cost are reduced by 20%. This doesn't even take into account the other benefits such as new friends, less congestion and less time looking for a parking space (to name just a few). We also offer a guaranteed ride home where we pay for your journey home in a emergency.

Loughborough University sports facilities
As a member of staff you can benefit from the country's largest concentration of high quality sports training facilities. You can join one of the campus gyms, take up tennis lessons or go for a swim in the 50m pool. Take a look at the campus 
Sport Map for a list of all the facilities available.
There's a lot to choose from so if you are not sure where to start try Loughborough University Fitness Suite (LUFS) for a good all-round gym or try a fitness class at The Hub.
Most sports facilities are available at discounted rates for University staff. For more information take a look at the Sport Development Centre website or contact the Sports Reception on 01509 226250.
Loughborough College sports facilities
Loughborough College offers University staff a discounted rate on gym membership. Featuring an air conditioned fitness studio, a range of group exercise classes including indoor cycling, sauna and steam room and situated just across the road from the University campus, this could be a convenient alternative to the University facilities.

IT Services
IT Service has provided FREE Anti Virus software for all computer sys
tems at home and at work to ensure that all members of the University are as safe and secure in their computing as we can achieve. This has been provided by McAfee for Windows, Sophos for Mac and typically ClamAV for Linux/Unix.

Playschemes
Loughborough University currently subsidises three school holiday playschemes for children of staff. The subsidy is provided to help staff manage their home and work commitments during school holidays.

Relocation expenses
If you are relocating from outside a 20 mile radius in order to take up a new appointment at Loughborough University you may be able to claim relocation expenses.

Active Lifestyles Programme
The Active Lifestyles programme has lots of sporting and fitness activities for staff to enjoy at lunchtimes and after work. You can attend a class or session regularly or as a one off - it's completely flexible.
The Active Lifestyles staff are easy going, helpful and above all friendly, and they know that classes and activities are designed to get you fitter, tone you up and get you moving... not make you a superstar!

Health assessments
Everyone can benefit from up-to-date and accurate health and lifestyle advice, whether you need to be fit for recreational activities, keep up with your kids or just for general day-to-day wellbeing.
The Loughborough Lifestyle Service offers accurate health assessments and practical advice to corporate organisations and professional sports teams. As part of Loughborough University's commitment to the health and wellbeing of its employees, staff have the opportunity to take advantage of this service at the discounted rate of £45 (normal price £75).
The assessment and advice is based on your individual needs and circumstances to help you achieve a lifelong commitment to a healthier lifestyle.

Bupa Cash Plan
Loughborough University offers the opportunity to join the Bupa Cash Plan Scheme.

Employee discounts on University and College courses
Loughborough University offers discounts to members of staff on a number of part time and evening courses. Evening courses teaching a variety of languages run from October to May and we are pleased to offer a 30% discount on cost of the part-time MBA programme.
The University has also negotiated a discount for Loughborough University employees on all courses at Burleigh Community College.
Discount on shoe repairs
Carillion Shoes offers a 25% discount on all show repairs to employees at Loughborough University. Make sure you have your Staff ID card with you in order to qualify for your discount.
Kinch Hopper Bus
If you need to get across campus, rather than take your car why not jump on the hopper bus? any trip within the University campus is free of charge with your Staff ID card and the bus goes all the way from the Students Union Building to Holywell Park.
Blackwell Book Shop
As an employee of Loughborough University you are entitled to 10% discount on book purchases from the Blackwell book shop in the Students Union Building. You will need to show your staff ID card at point of purchase to qualify for the discount.
Endsleigh Insurance
