International teams announced for Loughborough International

With less than a week to go until the 2018 edition of the Loughborough International Athletics match, which takes place on Sunday 20 May at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium, the various international teams are starting to take shape.

England were the first to unveil their line-up, headlined by European and World Indoor 60m champion Richard Kilty. The ‘Teeside Tornado’ will run in the 200m as he returns to the track following a gold medal winning run in the 4x100m relay at the Commonwealth Games last month.

Loughborough University based Daryll Neita will contest the women’s 100m, the Olympic 4x100m bronze medallist hot favourite for victory. Stepping up to the 200m, European Junior champion Maya Bruney will don the white vest for England, whilst Olympians Jade Lally and Luke Cutts will be the star attractions in the field, as they contest the discus and pole vault respectively.

As announced last week Loughborough based Mark Dry will be in action and Scottish Athletics have today confirmed that the double Commonwealth Games hammer bronze medallist will headline their team.

Also back in action after the Commonwealth Games down under is high jumper Allan Smith, and he’ll be looking to score maximum points for Scotland. An impressive fifth at the Games with a 2.27m clearance, which was an outdoor personal best, Smith is undoubtedly in the form of his life.

On the track, GB 4x400m relay international Grant Plenderleith will contest both that event and the individual 400m, whilst European Junior champion Jemma Reekie is in 1500m action.

For Wales Laura Maddox and Brett Morse will be most likely to score big points, Maddox running the 400m after an impressive 800m debut last weekend, with Morse going in the discus.
