Get involved

Volunteering in sport is a crucial part of the culture of our society – people coming together to help each other or to support a particular sporting endeavour – and thousands of voluntary sports clubs, organisations and community groups would simply not be able to carry on without the support of volunteers, and Loughborough Sport is no exception.

Why get involved?

Motivations for volunteering are broad and varied. For some of our volunteers, the Coach & Volunteer Academy gives them the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence and move closer to the jobs market, for others it’s a route to improved health and wellbeing, and for many it is the simple pleasure and satisfaction gained from helping others or ‘giving something back’.

Other reasons to get involved:

  • Develop skills, and enhance your CV - 93% of students involved in the Coach & Volunteer Academy were in further education or full time employment within 6 months of graduating.
  • Opportunities to gain a range of free/heavily subsidised industry recognised qualifications.
  • Opportunities to learn from and network with top sporting industry experts.
  • Access to a bespoke recognition package as a result of logging voluntary hours.

How to Get Involved?

To get involved in the Coach & Volunteer Academy you need to create an account on our volunteer management programme, the CVA Portal. This applies to both student volunteers and community volunteers as this is the online tool we use to advertise our opportunities, and volunteers will use to apply for any opportunities they’re interested in.

If you have any queries, please contact us at cva@lboro.ac.uk.

CVA Portal

The CVA Portal is our Volunteer Management programme used to advertise opportunities to our volunteers.

All volunteers within the Coach & Volunteer Programme must have an account on the CVA Portal as it acts as a place to search and apply for new opportunities, document your experiences and qualifications and log your voluntary hours to access our exclusive recognition package!

Recognition Package

We value the hard work and contributions of all our volunteers within the Coach & Volunteer Academy and therefore offer a bespoke recognition package to our student and community volunteers for any voluntary hours they log on their CVA Portal account.

There are six recognition milestones that volunteers can achieve, with a range of different items to choose from at each milestone.
