It's Better OFF @ Home - Bedroom

Why not try a few of these quick tips to make your bedroom more efficient?

Looking to save more?

Turn your thermostat down. Reducing your room temperature by 1°C could cut your heating bills by up to 10 percent and typically save you around £55 per year. If you have a programmer, set your heating and hot water to come on only when required rather than all the time.

Close the curtains, stop the drafts. Before you turn up the thermostat, consider how effectively you’re keeping the heat you’re paying for inside your home. A major source of energy loss is through the windows, and curtains can help keep heat inside rather than escaping out.

Use natural Light. Before you turn on a light during the day, make sure that you’re letting in as much natural light as you can through the windows by fully opening the curtains.

Switch it off. Nearly all of us have forgotten to turn off the TV when we’re not watching it once in a while, or have walked out a room without turning the light off. It’s easy to do, but the energy wasted in the process all adds up. Make these common-sense tasks part of your daily routine, and make everyone in the household responsible for switching off whatever they turn on.

Remember those chargers. Switching off appliances at the mains and not on standby would save enough energy to power 2.7 million homes for a year. Make it a habit at the end of the day to check that you’ve taken the plugs out for items like mobile phone and MP3 player chargers. It all makes a difference.
