What is resilience all about?
It is your ability to cope with stress and adversity or “bounceback” from a challenging situation at work or home.
Some people deal very well with stressful and sometimes life-changing situations. What enables then to do so? It involves resilience, an ongoing process that requires time and effort.
This web page aims to give you some suggestions and tools from other websites that you may find useful. There is no “quick fix” for improving your resilience, it requires your input and time. The results will worth it, helping you to deal more effectively with everyday and unusual situations that life presents you and may lead to improving your wellbeing and happiness.
Why not take an online test to assess your current levels of resilience? The test takes about 20 minutes and we suggest that you use the report to assess the areas if your life where you could improve your resilience. We also recommend that if those areas involve work, as they often do, that you also use the report to talk to your line manager or someone in your Department or School that you feel comfortable with.
We also recommend that you take a look at the Universities health and wellbeing pages. This website focuses on your well being, which is all about making sure your physical, mental and social needs are met so you can achieve your full potential and be the best you can be. It helps you to explore many aspects of life that affect your health and wellbeing.
Finally, remember we have programmes here in Staff Development to help you improve your resilience and well being, so why not come along to one of our combined briefing sessions for all our personal development programmes to find out more.
